The IP index
The IP index
What is IP for an electrical appliance?
The Protection Rating (IP) or Ingress Protection is an
international standard for sealing a device. It is published by the
international electronic commission for protection and qualifies the protection
against solid (dust) and liquid (water) infiltration.
The index is in IP form followed by two digits. Example:
IP67. The higher the number, the better the protection. The number after the IP
is broken down into two numbers:
·
The first digit qualifies the protection against
dust and foreign bodies. (6): Total protection against dust.
